Friday - Sunday, January 9 - 11, 2004

General Information

Discussion Groups at the Fetish Fair Fleamarket®

Would you like to lead a discussion group of or host a Birds of a Feather session? Are you part of a group who would like to hold a meeting at the fleamarket, or sponsor an event in conjunction with the weekend's activities (boat cruise, nightclub party, etc...)? Please contact FFF@nla-newengland.org. We would be happy to provide you with function space for your meeting or co-promote your event. If you would like to host a nighttime party in the hotel, book your party suite for $475 through the hotel reservations number (617-426-2000) but notify us at FFF@nla-newengland.org as well, to insure you are blocked in a party area.

Following is a list of the different discussion groups running at the Fetish Fair Fleamarket TM:

The Bondage Lounge
+ Hosted by Keckler, Matchstick, and Questioner
All day, from noon to 6pm Saturday, drop by the Bondage Lounge in the St. James room for mini-classes, demos, and hands-on opportunities to use that brand new rope you just bought downstairs! Hosted by the folks who bring you www.massachusettsbondage.com.
"Flapper? I Hardly Knew 'Er!"
Drop into the Thoreau Room for showings of a short lesbian erotic film, "Flapper" and meet the filmmakers!

Birds of a Feather Groups:

Explore common interests and meet people in our "birds of a feather" discussions.

Crips with Whips! Blinks with Kinks! People with Disabilities in the Scene
+ Led by Tikva
Yes, we're out there, and there are a lot of us! This discussion group is for people with all kinds of disabilities and our friends and loved ones. Topics may include: battling the myth of the asexual disabled, access to play spaces, modifying toys for easier use, communication, stamina issues, topping from a wheelchair (and other things that tend to startle the able-bodied), and pretty much anything else people want to talk about. Come meet other members of this vital part of the kink community!
BDSM Bloggers
+ Led by Debra Hyde
Do you blog? The world of weblogs and Live Journal has changed the way we get to know one another. Meet some people face to face and talk about blogging. Why do you blog? Is there anything too personal to reveal in a blog? Is blogging a whole new way to be "out" and be a role model in the community? Can/do you flirt through your blog?
Married, With Children--Balancing Family and BDSM
Just because you've settled down to a life of "domestic bliss" doesn't mean you can't be kinky, too. Do you play in public? What boundaries do you set on your relationship? How do you keep your sexual interests hidden from children too young to understand? When do you tell them, and how? Should your baby-sitter be kink-friendly? What are the risks and how do you manage them?
Pranayama: BDSM and Yogic Breathing:
+ Led by Peacefrog
A completely different kind of "breathplay"! Come learn and discuss yogic breathing techniques (pranayama) that can help you enhance your play and push your edges.
Women into BDSM/Kink Sexuality
+ Hosted by MOB New England.
Come meet and greet with area women in BDSM and other forms of kink sexuality. Trans-friendly.
Alcoholics Anonymous
Gather with other sober players in this nightly meeting, Friday 7pm - 8pm in Whittier, and Saturday 6pm - 7pm in Stanhope.

Venue Information

Boston Park Plaza Hotel
64 Arlington Street Boston
January 9th - 11th, 2004

Driving Directions and Public Transportation to the Boston Park Plaza:

The subway system in Boston is the MBTA, called "The T."
BY T FROM THE BOSTON AREA:
The hotel is located one short block from the Arlington T stop on the Green Line. Take any train to Park Street Station. From there, take any Outbound Green Line Train (B, C, D, or E) two stops. The second stop is Arlington. As you come up into the station from the platform level, head to your right and follow the signs to Park Plaza to exit close to the hotel. The hotel is right there, at the corner of Arlington Street and St. James Street.
    FROM THE AIRPORT:
You have three choices from the airport:
    • the T (subway) for $1
    • an airport shuttle for $9
    • taxi cab for $15-$20 (depending on traffic)
More info is available at http://www.massport.com/logan
    BY T FROM THE AIRPORT
Get on the free bus marked "Airport T Station" at any terminal. The bus will drop you off at the Blue Line T station. From the Airport T stop, take the Blue Line inbound to Government Center, and change to the Green Line. Take any car headed toward Park Street, and ride through Park Street, through Boylston Street, and exit at Arlington Street. Follow walking directions above.
    BY SHUTTLE VAN FROM AIRPORT
Many different companies run continuous shuttles from the airport. Take any van that says "DOWNTOWN HOTELS" or "BOSTON HOTELS" for $9. Just tell the driver "Park Plaza" and they will deliver you to the hotel's door. These vans make multiple stops, so you might stop at other hotels first. These same vans can return you to the airport and pick up from the hotel every half hour, with no reservations needed.
    BY TAXI FROM THE AIRPORT
Cab fare will vary depending on the traffic and time of the ride, but will generally be between $14 and $20. Tell your driver "Boston Park Plaza Hotel." It's a very well-known hotel and that should be all you have to say. Note: not all taxis in Boston are equipped to take credit cards.
    PARKING INFORMATION
Parking at the hotel is expensive, as it is most places in Boston. If you are staying over at the hotel, valet parking is $32/day, self-parking at the Motor Mart garage across the street from the hotel is $24/day. The Motor Mart Garage also has hourly rates, beginning at $8 for the first hour, up to a maximum of $24.
Slightly cheaper rates can be had at the Boston Common garage, which is about a two block walk:
    Daily Rates
    • Up to 1 hr: $5
    • Up to 2 hrs: $10
    • Up to 3 hrs: $13
    • Up to 12 hrs: $15
    • Maximum 24 hr charge: $21
    • Flat weekend rate: $9
An evening rate of $8 is available for those entering the Boston Common garage after 4 pm and exiting before 10 am. During the weekend, the flat rate is $9 if in after 6:00 am on Saturday or Sunday and out by 10:00 am the next morning. If in after 6:00 am Saturday and out by 10:00 am on Monday, the rate is $18. Please note that the rates quoted above are subject to change by the lot owner without notice.
